About The Position

As a Pastry Cook, you will be a vital part of our culinary team, responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in creating and executing exquisite pastry and dessert offerings that complement our fine-dining menu. Your dedication to precision and your passion for pastry artistry will contribute to the overall success of our culinary program.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a pastry cook in a fine-dining restaurant or pastry shop is preferred.
  • Culinary education or relevant training in pastry arts is an asset.
  • A passion for pastry arts, creativity, and an eye for detail.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, including baking, pastry creams, and plating.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to lift heavy bags of ingredients.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as necessary.
  • Mobility to move about the kitchen as necessary.
  • Great hand-eye coordination for shaping dough and using precise knife cuts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and production of a wide range of pastry items, including cakes, tarts, pastries, and plated desserts, in accordance with the highest quality and presentation standards.
  • Manage the Pastry, Desserts, and Bread Program
  • Execute popovers, handle bread basket/butter requests in conjunction with the Chef team
  • Collaborate closely with the pastry team to ensure desserts are beautifully plated and presented, maintaining the artistic and culinary vision of the Pastry Chef.
  • Accurately measure, weigh, and assemble ingredients for pastry recipes. Perform tasks such as chopping, peeling, and zesting, as required.
  • Assist with baking, cooking, and other pastry techniques, including pastry cream, mousse, and various doughs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pastry kitchen, including the proper storage and labeling of ingredients. Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels of pastry ingredients and supplies, including restocking items as needed.
  • Ensure consistency and high-quality standards in all pastry offerings by adhering to recipes and methods established by the Pastry Chef.
  • Work closely with the Pastry Chef and the culinary team to coordinate dessert offerings with the main menu, and assist in special events, catering, and private dining experiences.
