About the position

The Pastry Cook position prepares and finishes cakes, cookies, doughs, breads, mixes and any other items produced in the Pastry Shop according to house specifications and recipes. The role requires understanding and responding to internal guests' needs, communicating in a friendly and respectful manner, and maintaining a high level of quality in baking and consistency. The Pastry Cook decorates and finishes all cakes and pastries according to specifications and must have a thorough understanding of all equipment used in the Pastry Shop. The position also involves working in compliance with health department standards and reporting any violations or malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Pastry Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and finishes cakes, cookies, doughs, breads, mixes and other items in the Pastry Shop according to specifications.
  • Checks production schedule to determine variety and quantity needed.
  • Maintains a high level of quality in baking and consistency.
  • Decorates and finishes all cakes and pastries according to specifications.
  • Understands and responds to internal guests' needs.
  • Communicates in a friendly, respectful, and understandable manner.
  • Meets expected service delivery times as defined by department's service standards.
  • Cooperates with employees within the department and other departments.
  • Maintains workstation in compliance with health department codes.
  • Reports all violations and malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Pastry Chef.

Requirements

  • Related experience in a high-volume bakery or pastry shop.
  • Culinary school preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
