About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a full time PASTRY CHEF position. Location: Wingate University - 204 East Wilson Street, Wingate, North Carolina 28174. Note: online applications accepted only. Requirement: Prior professional baking experience is required. Lead daily production and quality standards: Oversee preparation, baking, and finishing of breads, pastries, and desserts, ensuring all items meet Bon Appétit recipes, presentation standards, and campus volume needs. Mentor and support bakery staff: Train, coach, and guide student employees and bakery team members, modeling proper techniques, time management, and workplace professionalism. Ensure food safety and sanitation compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HACCP, allergen awareness, and food safety standards while keeping the bakery clean, organized, and inspection-ready at all times. Support ordering, inventory, and planning: Assist with product forecasting, ingredient ordering, waste reduction, and coordination with culinary leadership to meet daily service and special event needs. Summary: Creates, plans and supervises the daily production of top-quality pastries, desserts and baked goods. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods. Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures. Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets/exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations. Supervises hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate. Helps plan and implement seasonal menus. Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels. Performs other duties as assigned.
