The Chaplain Resident will provide pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, hospital and medical staff and demonstrates continued educational growth and development in the chaplain residency program in accordance with the Standards of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.

Requirements

  • M.Div. or equivalent, at the discretion of department staff.
  • Readiness for learning in a program of CPE.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, staff and medical staff in individual, family or group context.
  • Fulfills the Clinical Pastoral Education program requirements and the learning objectives of ACPE Standards.
  • Participates in scheduled 24-hour chaplaincy coverage as department team member.
  • Demonstrates a capacity to access appropriate information from patient's chart as part of spiritual assessment and a capacity to add the Pastoral Care Treatment Plan and notes the chart.
  • Demonstrates competency in the spiritual assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.
