About The Position

The Pastoral Care Minister at Immanuel Church is responsible for leading the congregational care ministry, providing support and care for church members in need, and empowering care teams. This part-time role requires specialized pastoral care skills to fulfill the church's mission and involves direct reporting to the Senior Pastor.

Requirements

• Must be a mature and growing Christian with a commitment to prayer and Scripture.
• Reflect a calling from God to serve in the local church ministry.
• Desirable spiritual gifts include administration, service, helps, encouragement, faith, and leadership.
• A degree in counseling, M.Div. or equivalent degree, or three years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Experience in a church, hospital, or ministry setting.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledgeable in different areas of counseling.
• Experience with software including Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to learn and use church database management software like Breeze.

Responsibilities

• Lead the congregational care ministry and provide care for the sick, dying, and those requiring assistance.
• Visit hospitalized church members and empower teams to do the same.
• Assist in developing an effective pastoral care ministry for the congregation.
• Develop a philosophy and structure for pastoral care and coordinate relevant activities.
• Implement small groups of care, such as grief support.
• Communicate weekly with the Senior Pastor regarding visits and updates.
• Advise ministry staff on situations requiring pastoral visits.
• Coordinate with the card ministry for sending cards to members in need.
• Provide care and support during times of death and coordinate with other staff if unavailable.
• Preach funerals and graveside services as directed by the Senior Pastor.
