About The Position

Fellowship of Grace is seeking a lead pastor and passionate evangelist who will share our vision to reap a great harvest for King Jesus in Northwest Phoenix. We are looking for someone to join our leadership team as pastor and share our vision. He will help us create an environment that will cross a generational divide and form an additional nucleus of younger believers in our midst. Inviting unchurched and de-churched people into authentic community in a multi-generational and multi-ethnic Bible-believing church • Nurturing the spiritual health of longstanding members

Requirements

  • Community outreach/Evangelistic efforts/Relationship building
  • Has a heart for reaching people with the gospel just as the gospel has reached his own heart.
  • Intentional in relational evangelism and connects with unbelievers and unchurched communities
  • Effective communicator - able to communicate the gospel to a secular community in ways that are engaging, clear, and biblically grounded. Depending on one's skills and interests, may include evangelistic Bible studies, ESL classes, hospitality, creative outreach (social media, blogging, podcast, music, art), one-on-one discussions, apologetics, etc.
  • Skilled at gathering, training, and empowering people to reach others for Christ
  • Desire to encourage missions both locally and abroad by establishing relationships with our missionary partners
  • Leads boldly with a vision toward the future, while remaining faithful to biblical truth
  • Develops a compelling & measurable revitalization plan
  • Casts vision and shepherds the church through change
  • Navigates change with transparency and builds consensus around new initiatives
  • Has a pastoral heart and genuine love for people
  • Clear evidence of his personal relationship with God in light of scripture
  • Commitment to the PCA standards
  • Leadership and care for his family with Christ-like love and grace
  • Educational and ordination requirements of the PCA have been met (or will be met)

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the planning and conduct of worship & administering the sacraments
  • Labors to discern the meaning of biblical texts
  • Preaches with authority, urgency, dignity, and conviction by clearly and plainly expounding the meaning of a biblical text, explaining its relevance and practical application to the people
  • Partners with the music team to refresh and enrich worship music
  • Operates as part of a team with - and accountable to - the session
  • Leads by example in prayer, study of the Scripture, evangelism, and service to others
  • Builds genuine rapport across generations-young adults, mid-life families, and seniors
  • Encourages the congregation to become involved with missions locally and abroad
  • Teaches and trains church officers and other leaders
  • Participates in the local and national work of the PCA.
  • Represents the church as it participates in the wider work of God's kingdom, both in Peoria and beyond.
