About The Position

The Pastor of San Jose Baptist Church serves as the senior spiritual leader of the San Jose Baptist congregation within the Aspire Family of Churches. This role carries primary responsibility for preaching, teaching, pastoral care, vision casting, and congregational leadership , while partnering closely with the Senior Pastor of Aspire Church San Marco and the Aspire Family of Churches to guide San Jose Baptist Church through a season of renewal, revitalization, and long-term sustainability . The Pastor is entrusted with shepherding the congregation toward spiritual health, disciple-making, and missional engagement, in alignment with Aspire’s shared mission: To make disciples of Jesus and equip those who do.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of Scripture and ability to teach and apply biblical truth effectively.
Demonstrated pastoral leadership experience, preferably in revitalization or transitional ministry contexts.
Excellent communication skills (preaching, teaching, listening, and writing).
Ability to lead volunteers and develop lay leaders.
Emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and relational wisdom.
Alignment with Aspire’s Statement of Faith, mission, values, and ministry philosophy.
A deep, evident love for Jesus Christ and His Church.
Submission to the leadership and accountability structures of the Aspire Family of Churches.
Integrity, humility, and spiritual maturity.

Master of Divinity or equivalent theological training preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary preaching and teaching pastor , providing biblically faithful, gospel-centered leadership.
Act as the senior leader of the San Jose Baptist congregation , responsible for its spiritual direction, health, and growth.
Provide visionary leadership that supports revitalization, discipleship development, and future multiplication.
Partner with the Senior Pastor of Aspire Church San Marco in coaching, accountability, and alignment with the Aspire Family of Churches.
Lead and develop the local leadership team (lay leaders, deacons, and volunteers).
Model and cultivate a culture of prayer, discipleship, generosity, and unity.
Plan and lead weekly worship services in coordination with Aspire resources where appropriate.
Preach and teach in a manner that is Biblically grounded, Gospel centered, culturally aware, pastorally sensitive, and missionally focused.
Administer the ordinances of the church (baptism and the Lord’s Supper).
Participate in weddings, funerals, and special services as needed.
Provide pastoral care including counseling, hospital and home visitation, and crisis support.
Shepherd the congregation with wisdom, compassion, and biblical integrity.
Work collaboratively with Aspire pastors and deacons to ensure comprehensive member care.
Lead and mentor the San Jose Baptist Church leadership team.
Participate in the Aspire Family Council and related leadership gatherings.
Partner with Aspire Church San Marco in areas of governance, budgeting, staffing coordination, and reporting.
Support the development of systems and rhythms that promote congregational health and accountability.
Lead the congregation toward renewed engagement in discipleship, outreach, and community presence.
Encourage participation in small groups, micro-church expressions, and missional initiatives.
Help the congregation embrace Aspire’s vision of becoming a House of Prayer for All Nations , reflecting its context and opportunities.
Work toward long-term sustainability with a view toward future independence and multiplication.
Represent San Jose Baptist Church within the broader Aspire Family of Churches.
Participate in coaching, training, and evaluation processes as directed by Aspire leadership.
Perform other pastoral or leadership duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor of Aspire Church San Marco.
