The Passport Support Associate IV plays a crucial role in supporting the customer service and adjudication departments by performing various clerical and manual functions related to passport processing. This position involves utilizing office equipment and computer systems to manage passport applications, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing assistance to government personnel and applicants. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to handle sensitive information, and effective communication skills.

  • Receive undeliverable Passports and assist in researching mailing problems.
  • Assist Government Personnel with inquiries from Congress, Headquarters, White House, and other Government agencies.
  • Maintain applications with applicants who provided Potentially Fraudulent Birth Documents (PFBD) and provide research and recommendations.
  • Train lower level Support Associates in essential job functions.
  • Operate equipment for high-speed scanning, mail out, and metering mail.
  • Generate mailing labels and ensure correct documentation is sent to applicants.
  • Box and archive files for storage purposes.
  • Interface with Passport applicants at Agency/Center information and will-call counters.
  • Perform data entry and quality control checks on passport applications.
  • Prepare Informational Request Letters (IRLs) and Final Notice letters.
  • Process refund/reimbursement requests and verify completed transactions.
  • Participate in customer service outreach activities.
  • Conduct research on passport cases and write recommended findings.
  • Assist with various special projects as requested by the Government.
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of experience as a Support Associate Level II or III or 4 years of experience in a high volume production environment.
  • Six years of general office experience.
  • Four years of experience utilizing MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent customer service skills and effective communication.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to U.S. Passport issuance.
