The Passive Safety Development Engineer role at Honda focuses on the development of Safety Control systems software integration. As a member of the Advanced Safety Controls Division, you will support the integration of driving assistance and vehicle dynamics control technologies into Honda vehicles. This position is crucial for integrating Passive Safety and Restraint Systems controls technology into Light Duty Truck (LDT) development vehicles. The role requires direct coordination with Tier 1 suppliers such as Continental, Denso, and ZF, ensuring that the integration process is seamless and efficient. You will work under the guidance of senior team members while also enjoying a significant level of autonomy in your responsibilities. Your key accountabilities will include managing vehicle development projects specifically related to Passive Safety and Restraint Systems control specifications. This involves actively maintaining schedules and task lists that encompass internal, Japan R&D, and supplier schedules. You will review current electronic control systems specifications and develop functional requirements related to the Controller Area Network (CAN) interface, self-diagnostic capabilities, and failsafe detection for each vehicle development. Additionally, you will validate the software functions of Passive Safety and Restraint Systems through standard requirement testing both on the bench and in vehicles at proving grounds. The role also entails validating electrical hardware through EMC testing and collaborating with suppliers to address any issues that arise.
