About The Position

The Assistant Passenger Conductor at Amtrak plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains while providing excellent customer service. Requirements

• Some work experience exhibiting responsibility, initiative, and leadership characteristics.
• Satisfactory attendance and safe work record.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, snow, and rain.
• Physical agility to get on/off train equipment and manipulate between cars.
• Willingness to report for work on short notice and work weekends and holidays.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination and drug screening.
• Current valid driver's license and good safety record.
• Two years of full-time verifiable work history or college work, or a combination equating to two years.

Nice To Haves

• Some leadership/supervisory experience.
• Experience in a customer service role that includes cash handling.
• Some mechanical experience or knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Conductor in the safe movement of trains by adhering to operating rules and practices.
• Oversee on-train employees in service delivery according to the Corporation's service standards.
• Collect and verify all revenue documents in accordance with designated tariffs.
• Ensure the safety of passengers and crew by adhering to safety rules.
• Communicate effectively with passengers and crew members regarding train movements and customer service.
• Secure movement orders and ensure clear understanding by the operating crew.
• Assist in boarding and detraining of passengers, baggage, express shipments, and mail.
• Make customer service announcements and provide information about train services.
• Ensure each passenger has the proper fare and maintain safe and orderly passenger conduct.
• Submit reports on movement delays, unusual occurrences, and mechanical defects.
