About The Position

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Parts Inventory Analyst I based at our facility in Avon, Indiana facility. The Inventory Analyst is responsible for ongoing procurement of service parts to ensure stocking levels are adequate to meet the fill targets established by the company on a yearly basis at a minimum inventory investment. The Inventory Analyst acts as the primary point for contact from and to the supplier for most questions related to shipment and/or receipt of goods. As part of this role, the Inventory Analyst must analyze and adjust the suggested orders, negotiate adjustments to ship dates and quantities with suppliers, and work collaboratively with PDC warehouse staff, dealer satisfaction, commodity managers, and other inventory analysts. Managing the supply base to make overall improvements in the Supply Chain is integral to this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain, or 4-6 years of supply chain or related industry experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Four to six (4-6) years of supply chain or related industry experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of service parts planning forecasting models and processes.
  • System Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems, planning software, and warehouse management systems.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of inventory management.
  • Problem Solver: Capable of quickly addressing and resolving issues related to supply chain and inventory discrepancies.
  • Proactive Communicator: Excellent communication skills to negotiate with suppliers and coordinate with internal teams.
  • Adaptable: Able to respond to changing stock levels and emergency backorders efficiently.
  • Team Player: Work well within a team environment and can collaborate with various departments to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Material Delivery: Maintain service fill rates at or above annual targets while keeping inventory levels as low as possible by reviewing forecasts and placing orders.
  • Manage Stock Levels: React to daily backorders for stocked parts by releasing additional orders and negotiating with suppliers to adjust ship dates.
  • Handle Emergency Backorders: Prioritize and fill emergency backorders or higher priority customer orders quickly by coordinating with affiliate locations, warehouse personnel, or suppliers.
  • Resolve Discrepancies: Address invoicing and receiving discrepancies to prevent shipment stoppages, delayed receipts, and incorrect material issues.
  • Follow-Up on Orders: Continuously monitor and follow up on past due orders, short shipments, and revised order acknowledgements, updating the ERP system as necessary.
  • Forecast and Plan: Use forecasting models to anticipate future stock needs and make proactive decisions to ensure availability.
