The Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. He or she also assures proper control of the parts inventory and related administrative functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Ensure that outgoing shipments meet specifications. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. Receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment and be designated- Returned Goods. Receive unsold products returned by Parts Manager. Place daily parts orders. Assist Parts Manager in processing weekly stock orders. Ensure that unused “foreign parts” are returned to vendors. Remove returned parts from inventory after credit is received. Return cores in a timely manner and follow for receipt of credit. Provide necessary information to the warranty department to allow prompt filing of parts warranties. File company copies of parts counter invoices. Assist counterpeople with check and credit card processing when available. Take messages for Parts counterpeople and Parts Manager when they are unable to answer the phone. Keep parts office area clean. Assist back counterpeople with technicians’ requests for parts and charging parts onto Repair Order. Add new parts to inventory in proper bin location.
