About The Position

The Parts Counter Associate at Merrell Bros., Inc. plays a vital role in supporting repair and service operations across the company. This position sits at the nexus of our operational excellence—especially through our Parts Department, which supports our state-of-the-art facility in Kokomo, Indiana, and enables the seamless execution of biosolids management projects nationwide. Our headquarters spans 43,000 ft² and includes a three-story parts inventory system, a semi maintenance shop, agricultural and farm equipment maintenance, belt press/centrifuge repair bays, overhead cranes, fuel island, tire & oil bays, and certified scales. The Parts Department ensures these critical maintenance operations remain smooth, supporting heavy equipment functionality essential for biosolids transportation, dewatering, dredging, lagoon cleaning, land application, and more. The responsibilities you bring to this role directly enable Merrell Bros., Inc. to maintain its reputation for on-time project delivery, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The skills along with a positive attitude and the desire to work hard will result in $65,000+ per year; with annual Safety Bonus opportunity!

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Parts Counter Associate or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment parts—industrial components experience preferred.
  • Experience operating a fork truck.
  • Attention to detail and conscientious work ethic.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently; consistent heavy lifting required.
  • Flexibility and readiness to address issues as they arise.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License Class

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and professionalism at all times.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Parts Warehouse.
  • Organize and maintain the Parts Warehouse, including the three-story inventory system.
  • Keep critical inventory stocked to support in-house repairs across various maintenance bays.
  • Respond promptly to repair needs for heavy equipment across facilities.
  • Support maintenance of Agriculture equipment, centrifuges, overhead cranes, and fleet vehicles.
  • Manage simultaneous parts requests and identify critical procurement paths.
  • Analyze practices and vendor pricing to secure top-quality components at competitive rates.
  • Collaborate with technicians, Shop Managers, and leadership to keep operations on schedule.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues quickly and maintain operational flow under pressure.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the Parts Manager or management to enhance efficiency and profitability.
