The Parts Cleaner plays a key role in supporting P&W’s business lines by ensuring engine components are thoroughly cleaned after disassembly and able to be passed on to the NDT team for the next stage of the process. This role ensures compliance standards are exceeded so that the next phase of overhaul can be completed on the shop floor. The selected candidate will work on our 2nd shift, which is Monday-Thursday from 3:40pm-1:40am. Training will be conducted on 1st shift for up to 6 months before transitioning into 2nd shift. To excel in this role, you should be able to prioritize safety and compliance to ensure P&W standards are met. You must have the ability to adjust and manage priorities, have good time management skills, work independently, and adhere to all EH&S policies such as wearing proper PPE. Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with cleaning chemicals
  • Experience working in the aviation industry, an MRO facility, or other manufacturing environments

Responsibilities

  • Segregate parts such as aluminum, steel, titanium, stainless steel, and magnesium and position in baskets ensuring parts do not get damaged
  • Place basket under hoist, lift, and position in respective tanks according to type, then remove at termination of cleaning cycle.
  • Wash parts in cleaning booth with varsol using brush or spray gun.
  • Dip steel parts in inhibiting oil and place on engine part trucks, add chemicals to solutions as instructed by supervisor.
  • Cleaning of tanks, spray booths, trucks, baskets, and engine part racks as required.
  • Perform other duties such as sandblasting, shortening, deburring, and polishing as required.
