About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Partnership Tax Accounting Manager to facilitate tax compliance, reporting, and accounting functions for our global partnership. This role is pivotal in managing multi-jurisdictional withholding, state and local tax (SALT) filings, and specialized federal tax analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, ideally with an emphasis in tax.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in controller or accounting manager role, tax experience with Big Law or Professional Services experience is a significant plus
  • Strong proficiency in multi-state tax regulations (specifically CA, NJ, NY, VA, WA, and OH)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas) for "Special Analysis" reporting
  • Familiarity with legal accounting software (e.g., Aderant, Elite 3E, or Emburse/Chrome River) and QuickBooks
  • High level of discretion when handling confidential information
  • Organized with a solid calendar system to ensure compliance required.
  • Ability to manage multiple filing deadlines across various time zones
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license is helpful but not required
  • tax experience with Big Law or Professional Services experience is a significant plus

Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance & Withholding
  • State Withholding : Actively monitor, calculate, and process California withholding payments; manage the CA waiver request process and lead appeals/follow-ups on denials.
  • Group Tax and PTET : Assist with elections and calculations for Ohio and New Jersey (group returns) and California, New Jersey, New York, Virginia (PTET)
  • Jurisdictional Exemptions : Direct the processing and acquisition of New York State (NYS) exemption certificates.
  • Federal & International : Execute federal tax payments to select non-US resident partners and ensure strict adherence to filing deadlines.
  • State & Local Tax (SALT) : Manage the end-to-end filing process for: Hawaii: Monthly excise tax returns and annual reports Ohio: Quarterly CAT returns and annual reconciliations Washington: Monthly excise tax returns and annual reconciliations Washington D.C.: Annual ballpark fee compliance
  • Federal Tax Analysis & Reporting
  • Special Analysis: Perform deep-dive reporting for nondeductible expenses, including M&E, lobbying portions of bar dues, client gifts, and seasonal/sports ticket allocations
  • FBAR/FATCA: Oversee Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBAR) review and form completion for designated staff and partners
  • Partnership Accounting & Global Operations
  • Compensation & Capital : Lead compensation reconciliations and assist in the administration of the partner capital loan program
  • Global Support : Assist with tax reporting requirements for international offices, including Japan, UK, KSA, and Doha
  • Financial Operations : Review and approve ex-pat expenses, process monthly journal entries, manage the group personal excess liability insurance program, plus additional assignments when needed
  • Charitable Foundation Management
  • Governance : Maintain the Foundation’s books and records; oversee check authorization and verification.
  • Board Relations : Prepare quarterly fund reports for the Board and Officers; coordinate and attend Foundation meetings.
  • Tax Prep : Facilitate the preparation of the Foundation’s annual tax returns.
