About The Position

The Partnership Officer is a leadership position directing collaboration development across WFIRM programs. This role is responsible for working with senior/executive leadership in setting the vision for the institute’s collaborations, short and long-term strategies, driving development in a timely manner, meeting institutional standards, and building business plans. This leadership role reports to the WFIRM Director and has significant leadership responsibility. He/she will identify and develop domestic translational collaborations, promote innovation, develop and execute strategic strategies, and boost economic growth and sustainability through key collaborations with staff and faculty, academic institutions, life science companies and startups, non-profits, and government agencies with an entrepreneurial eye to advance translational science to improve patient health outcomes. Will be responsible in partnership for developing long range strategic opportunities and translate the strategy into tactical plans to align with goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • PhD in a scientific discipline
  • Ten years of progressive management experience with academia, business development, finances, strategic planning, and government relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies in establishing clear direction and objectives, ability to simplify complex processes and foster a collaborative environment
  • Ability to provide strong business leadership on a cross-functional team, Relationship management.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Skilled problem solver.
  • Demonstrated management skills and ability to manage special projects, work under pressure, meet deadlines.
  • Robust collaboration skills.
  • Superior verbal, written and presentation communication skills to effectively persuade and influence in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with business partners and facilitate work among teams.

Responsibilities

  • Will develop the strategy for the formation of sustaining collaborations with domestic industries including startups, academics, non-profit, government and scientific leaders to advance the mission and vision of the Institute.
  • Develop novel deal structures, grants, and other funding opportunities that support the sustainability and/or growth of the Institute.
  • Source, screen, make recommendations for enabling partnerships and/or internal capability building to meet the Institute’s mission and vision.
  • Develop, target, execute and operationalize strategic programs, projects and opportunities.
  • Utilize metrics and root cause analysis to enhance effectiveness and continued improvement of the Institute’s strategy, programs, and projects.
  • Engage with external partners to establish and shape the future through the Institute’s strong scientific capabilities.
  • Partner with other staff to seamlessly integrate new collaborations and capabilities.
  • Raise issues, escalate concerns and propose solutions as appropriate to all the success and sustainability.
  • Active member and participant of the leadership team collaborating with other members to ensure regulatory and translational strategies are aligned with WIFRM objectives.
