Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Part-Time Youth Care Provider to provide crisis and non-crisis intervention services for the children in the shelter and perform other various shelter tasks. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of childcare experience preferred; personal or professional
  • Must successfully complete all required background and pre-employment checks

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vigilant child supervision.
  • Assist children with hygiene, diet, dressing and bathing.
  • Assist with supervised visitations.
  • Assist with routine appointments for children and transport as necessary.
  • May assist in administration of medications to children.
  • Complete child departure requirements.
  • Complete behavioral, CPS reports and all necessary documentation by the end of each shift.
  • Utilize approved behavior management techniques to respond to behaviors.
  • Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.
  • Facilitate structured programs, i.e., games, outdoor recreation, etc.
  • Assist with daily, monthly and special event activities for children in shelter.
  • Assist with training needs of staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • May coordinate and facilitate shelter and non-shelter programs as assigned.
  • Assist in keeping the shelter clean and orderly.
  • Serve as back up for crisis telephone calls, drop-in counseling sessions, shelter intakes and departures.
  • Complete required annual training.
  • Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.
  • Attend assigned meetings.
