About The Position

The City of Brentwood, TN is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced part-time Workplace Safety Coordinator to oversee the Workplace Safety Program and ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves policy revisions, training facilitation, incident investigations, safety inspections, and maintaining compliance records. The position is part of the Human Resources team and requires collaboration with various city departments to promote safety awareness and minimize workplace risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in an occupational health and safety related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and recordkeeping rules as well as state and local safety and health standards.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations as it pertains to the safety sensitivity of commercial driver's license holders.
• Ability to instruct and educate employees, express ideas concisely, and review and interpret data.
• Must possess working knowledge of Office 365, specifically Excel.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and update safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Administer and facilitate training and educational programs on workplace safety practices and emergency procedures.
• Identify potential hazards in the workplace, assess risks, and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate them.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine causes, recommend corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
• Participate in workplace safety inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Benefits

• Hourly rate of $22 - $25 depending on experience.
• Up to 5% salary increase after successful completion of six-month probationary period.
• Transportation allowance up to $1000/year to be paid over 26 pay periods annually.
