The employee will supervise, protect, and care for individuals, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and facilitating learning in fire safety. The role also involves managing crisis situations and ensuring health, wellness, and safety through appropriate supervision. Support is provided in various settings according to individualized service and behavior support plans, demonstrating the OPWDD Core Competencies. The employee will maintain a clean and safe therapeutic environment, assist with personal care and daily living activities, ensure medication is administered as prescribed, and support person-centered advocacy. Additional responsibilities include transporting individuals, developing specialized clinical knowledge, implementing behavior support plans, and maintaining necessary documentation.

  • Complete and maintain necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Review communication logs and maintain documentation.
  • Utilize approved training techniques to respond to challenging behavior.
  • Provide coverage for other direct support staff as needed.
  • Participate in the development of treatment plans.
  • Operate YAI motor vehicle for transportation as required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification within one year.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain additional required certifications within one year.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Van certification for transportation assignments.
  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Work or life experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • $16.78 per hour compensation.
