About The Position

We are looking for a certified welding instructor to provide high-quality instruction in seam welding, metal arc welding (GMAW/MIG), gas tungsten welding (GTAW/TIG), and oxy-fuel welding (welding oxyacetylene weld/ cut). They must provide instruction on safety measures, characteristics, and proper use of equipment, materials, and tools. They must report and maintain documentation of students' progress, attendance, and performance. Perform other duties that are assigned. They may be required to work with industry to create a customized welding curriculum that fits their needs and schedule. Develop lesson plans and create welding activities. The instructor must have a strong background working in the welding industry. They must have a strong passion for teaching, supporting, and preparing students to reach their educational goals.

Requirements

  • Certification in welding from American Welding Society (AWS)
  • Other certifications in welding will be considered.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mastery of skill in welding.
  • Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, cooperative, and dependable.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction over seam welding, gas tungsten welding, oxy-fuel welding and metal arc welding.
  • Provide instruction over welding wheels, cable knurl drives, direct drive wheels, and shunts.
  • Educate students on the importance and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Educate students on the amount of power required and the appropriate materials to use to join specific metals.
  • Provide instruction over aluminum metallurgy, how to make fillets and V-groove welds on aluminum plates in all positions.
  • Educate students on aluminum wire and shielding gas.
  • Provide instruction on set-up, care, maintenance and safety procedures of MIG equipment.
  • Demonstrate on how to clean and prepare base metal joints for welding or cutting.
  • Identify and explain joint designs.
  • Educate students on how to use gauges to check joint fit-up.
  • Provide instruction on how to fit-up joints using pipe and plate, fit-up tools, how to check for poor fit-up and misalignment.
  • Provide instruction over the different types of filler metals and their relationship to welding electrical current.
  • Educate students on how to select electrodes.
  • Provide instruction on how to use E7018 and E6010 electrodes to make beads, fillets welds, and V-butt welds on flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.
  • Educate students on how to safely cut, set-up, care, and maintain maintenance on TIG equipment.
  • Provide instruction on how to make GTAW V-groove and modified U-groove welds on aluminum pipe in 2G, 5G, and 6G positions.
  • Provide instruction over gas tungsten arc welding.
  • Provide instruction over oxy-fuel welding.
  • Educate students on basic and intermediate level welds.
  • Provide instruction over reading a variety of shop drawings.
  • Provide instruction over fabrication and assemble various metal components using various hand-power tools.
