About The Position

Ensures the timely delivery of high-quality, accessible marketing, academic, and social media video content by transforming raw footage into polished assets-including Spanish-language course lecture content for Talbot en Español. Collaborates with producers, campus partners, and the post-production team to edit, finish, caption, and version content that meets department standards, accessibility requirements, and Biola's brand guidelines-all within a part-time schedule (approx 25 hours/week).

Requirements

  • Adobe Creative Cloud: Premiere Pro (expert), Audition (basic-intermediate), Photoshop (intermediate); After Effects and/or Fairlight (intermediate).
  • DaVinci Resolve Studio (Edit & Color): High proficiency on the Edit and Color pages, including node-based grading, primary/secondary corrections, shot matching, color management (e.g., DaVinci YRGB/ACES), scopes, and delivery; ability to conform/roundtrip as needed.
  • Understanding of codecs, frame rates, color spaces, and delivery specs (e.g., ProRes, BRAW, H.264/HEVC; loudness targets such as -16 to -14 LUFS for online).
  • Captioning/transcription workflows (SRT/VTT; burn-in when required) and accessibility best practices.
  • PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides proficiency for slide integration
  • Mac/Windows OS fluency and disciplined file management.
  • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills; ability to work to deadlines and accept feedback.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in film/video production or related field and 2+ years of professional editing experience; strong finishing/motion graphics samples.
  • The person who fills this position must be someone who personally agrees with Biola's Articles of Faith and who is supportive of the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Statement of Biblical Principles and Eschatology Teaching Position. Nice To Haves

  • Camera/audio/grip experience (including wireless mics and basic timecode) for occasional production support.
  • Illustrator familiarity; basic 3D literacy a plus.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet) and basic project/task tools (e.g., Airtable/Trello/Asana).
  • Resourcefulness in troubleshooting post-production workflows and improving templates/presets.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain media assets; follow naming, versioning, metadata, and archiving SOPs.
  • Edit Talbot en Español course lectures and other Spanish-language videos produced by the department, delivering polished, on-brand outputs.
  • Prepare and manage Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve project files; sync, assemble, and refine edits (including multicam when applicable).
  • Perform audio cleanup and loudness-normalized mixes; apply basic-advanced color correction and shot matching.
  • Create light motion graphics (e.g., lower thirds, title cards, animated slides) in After Effects or Fairlight and still graphics in Photoshop as needed.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance (editing captions/transcripts, readability/contrast) per Section 508/ADA; prepare and attach SRT/VTT files.
  • Export deliverables to required technical specs/codecs; upload to LMS/approved platforms; conduct quality control (QC) prior to delivery.
  • Troubleshoot file, codec, plug-in, and media issues; escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Support occasional studio/location recordings (camera/audio/grip) as assigned.
  • Collaborate professionally with faculty, instructional designers, and teammates to meet project timelines and standards.
  • Assist with server maintenance, media backups, and long-term archiving to ensure data security, sufficient server storage, and asset availability.
  • All other duties as assigned that the supervisor determines are appropriate.
