About The Position

The Part-time Victim Advocate position at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, is focused on providing advocacy, intervention, prevention, education, and training to address domestic violence under the Army's Family Advocacy Program (FAP). This role supports the Army's Victim Advocacy Program (VAP), offering comprehensive services to assist and advocate for victims of domestic abuse, ensuring their transition to community resources. The advocate serves Soldiers and Army Families, providing crisis intervention, emotional support, and assistance in navigating various services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working with victims of domestic abuse or in victim advocacy services.
  • Knowledge of family violence dynamics, safety planning, and risk assessments.
  • Ability to intervene in crisis situations using professional judgment and ethical practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding and empathy for victims from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with various personnel on behalf of victims.
  • Valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license and transportation for non-emergent situations.

  • Additional certifications in counseling or social work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention and comprehensive services to victims of domestic abuse.
  • Assist victims in securing protective orders and emergency resources such as food and shelter.
  • Conduct initial screenings, risk assessments, and safety planning with victims.
  • Liaise with the Family Advocacy Program Manager to ensure comprehensive victim services are provided.
  • Educate Soldiers and Family members about domestic abuse through training and awareness programs.
  • Maintain ongoing case management and ensure timely contact with victims in crisis.
  • Assist victims in navigating the system to obtain desired services and referrals for continued care.
  • Provide information on victim rights and available resources.
  • Accompany victims to medical, legal, and law enforcement appointments when requested.
