POSITION SUMMARY The ASES Tutor position will provide academic assistance services to students who need remedial assistance, including tutoring students in specific academic areas related to their core curriculum and/or assist students with their homework assignments or projects during the afterschool program. The after school support staff will be under the supervision of the Site Director or ASES Coordinator.

Requirements

• Work experience in a school setting with students
• Must possess organization, communication and problem solving skills.
• Must pass a DOJ background check.
• Must be willing to create and follow through with individualized professional development plan.
• Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
• High level of communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students during Homework Help during after school program.
• Teach an Enrichment class of your choice to students during after school program
• Assist with integrating core-curriculum concepts
• Manage groups of students to make efficient use of time
• Consult with Site Director or ASES Coordinator on academic assistance strategies
• Communicate regularly with school-day teachers and ASES program staff
• Ensure student safety and school accountability
• Keep accurate records and collect data on students
• Attend in-service trainings as well as other appropriate trainings according to Professional development Requirements
