About The Position

The Part-Time Tutor, Math position is designed to assist students in achieving academic success by clarifying learning problems and developing effective study skills. The tutor will provide academic support in targeted subject areas through individual or group tutoring sessions, helping students to develop personalized tutoring plans that cater to their individual needs. The role requires preparation for tutoring sessions, assessment of student progress, and participation in training and development sessions as instructed. Attendance at work is considered an essential function of this position, along with the flexibility to take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Texas teaching certificate
• Teaching experience preferred
• Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter
• Ability to explain concepts to others effectively
• Effective communication, organization and interpersonal skills
• Exhibit patience and positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with academic support in targeted subject area(s) via individual or group tutoring.
• Assist students with developing study strategies.
• Work with students to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student's individual needs.
• Prepare tutoring sessions to ensure the student's academic development.
• Assess the student's progress throughout tutoring sessions.
• Participate in tutor training and development sessions as instructed.
• Attendance at work is an essential function.
• Other duties as assigned.
