About The Position

Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety focused Part-Time Transfer Attendant/Heavy Equipment Operator to join the team in Hood River, Oregon. Starting wage is $34.98/HR (with an increase to $36.20 after 6-months of employment pending a positive performance review) Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, & Friday Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Safety Sensitive Position: Yes

Requirements

Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
To be eligible for employment, candidate must pass a criminal background check, & drug panel screening as well as have an acceptable motor vehicle report.

Responsibilities

Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe, and/or front-end loader.
Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
Track measurement information in computer system.
Ensuring that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.
Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
