About The Position

The Part-Time Teacher Assistant at Muskegon Montessori Academy for Environmental Change (MMAEC) plays a crucial role in providing students with a first-class learning experience. This position focuses on supporting the educational development of students in a 1st-3rd grade classroom, emphasizing individualized learning paths and environmental education. The assistant will work collaboratively with teachers to enhance the learning environment and contribute to the overall mission of fostering responsible citizenship and leadership among students.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 60 college credit hours required.
• Demonstrated competence in a similar role.
• Experience with Montessori and/or PBIS preferred.
• Computer literate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a Montessori educational setting.
• Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Support students in their learning and development, providing individualized attention as needed.
• Help maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment.
• Participate in outdoor classroom activities and environmental education initiatives.
• Collaborate with other staff members to support student learning and development.
