About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a skilled Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery team! As a Part-Time Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. You will perform physical exams, accurately count heart and pulse rates, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. You will understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal. You will be able to set up intravenous fluids, administer subcutaneous fluids, operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps, and troubleshoot errors. You will also monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to work part-time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8am to 6pm.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Veterinary Technician.
• Experience in a surgical environment.

Responsibilities
