About The Position

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND. As a Part Time Student - Software Engineering for John Deere located in Chicago, IL, you will be a technical member of a software team and contribute to feature delivery. Your responsibilities include designing, building, testing, deploying, and operating security software solutions, writing clean and well-tested code, and collaborating closely with software engineers to improve the security of software. This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a Technology related discipline
• Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
• Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Takes initiative and is a self-starter who can complete assignments remotely
• Experience in at least one programming language
• Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited university
• Graduation date of Spring 2027 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Python, Java/JavaScript, SQL, Terraform
• Experience interacting with APIs
• Experience with Git/Github
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Knowledge of security concepts: vulnerabilities, ethical hacking, secure design
• Strong communication and analytical skills
