About The Position

The College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is seeking a part-time undergraduate research assistant for the Department of Sociology and Criminology, working within the Criminal Justice Research Center (CJRC). This position will assist with ongoing collaborative research between CJRC and the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. Tasks will involve assisting with data entry and transcription, literature searches, data analysis, and report writing. The role will be supervised by a CJRC post-doctoral researcher. Work will primarily be conducted online, with periodic in-person meetings.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time Penn State undergraduate student
  • Available to work at least 5 hours per week - during spring semester 2026
  • Attend meetings regularly
  • Detail-oriented and responsible
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete all required Penn State IRB Human Subjects Training
  • Maintain data confidentiality
  • Complete tasks as assigned, within established deadlines
  • Attend periodic check-in meetings (online or in-person)
