About The Position

Dr. Mark Guiltinan lab is hiring a part-time position as a greenhouse assistant in the Plant Science Department. The assistant will support the growth of cacao trees in greenhouses. This will require mixing fertilizer, measuring pH and conductivity, programming irrigation controllers, pruning, power washing, sanitation of greenhouse media, and pest monitoring. Occasional checking on plants during weekends. This position is 20 hours per week.

Requirements

• Current Penn State employee or student preferred
• Ability to work part-time (20 hours per week)
• Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies

Responsibilities

• Support the growth of cacao trees in greenhouses
• Mix fertilizer
• Measure pH and conductivity
• Program irrigation controllers
• Prune plants
• Power wash greenhouse equipment
• Sanitize greenhouse media
• Monitor pests
• Occasionally check on plants during weekends
