New Oakland Family Centers provides psychiatric treatment, therapeutic counseling and educational services of the highest quality to individuals and families by offering consistent and passionate support, being responsive to their needs and treating them with the utmost respect through active involvement in our communities. The Certified Teacher for New Oakland Family Centers and Oakland Schools’ Aspire Program plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those participating in the FACE to FACE Partial Hospital Day Program. The Certified Teacher will address the special and educational needs of consumers enrolled in this program, providing tailored instruction and guidance.

  • Deliver educational services in accordance with Oakland Schools’ Aspire Program policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff on assigned cases to provide feedback and guidance on students' educational needs.
  • Utilize specialized teaching methodologies to support students with disabilities effectively.
  • Participate in meetings with clinical staff, school personnel, students, and families as required.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and within designated timelines.
  • Monitor and report student progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required reports to administration as needed.
  • Assist students and parents with concerns related to placement, curriculum, and instruction.
  • Keep detailed records of parent and student conferences to ensure clear communication and follow-up.
  • Promptly inform administrators of concerns regarding student progress, behavior, or truancy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration on special projects and initiatives throughout the academic year.
  • Demonstrate and maintain stable, professional, and appropriate boundaries with clients at all times.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude toward learning and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to accept constructive feedback, implement guidance, and show a willingness to grow and improve professionally.
  • Maintain a valid Professional Teaching Certification in the state of Michigan, ensuring compliance with all state licensure requirements and continuing education standards.
  • Stay current with professional training requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support student success, program goals and clinic operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree and Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an approved driving record that meets facility and insurance requirements.
  • Special Education Endorsement in Learning Disabilities highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data entry and electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
