The future is here! What you'll do on a typical day This part-time faculty member's primary effort focuses on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Social and Human Services Program. This position reports directly to the Division Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Davidson-Davie Community College faculty members have the following responsibilities including, but not limited to: Promote the college mission, vision and values Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy. Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills Attend appropriate internal and external meetings Assist in student recruitment and retention Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff

Requirements

  • Master's degree in sociology, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in sociology from a regionally accredited institution

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching sociology face-to-face at a community college or college
  • Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
  • Experience teaching in multiple instructional formats, including online, virtual, and face-to-face modalities

Responsibilities
