About The Position

The Justice and Safety Institute is seeking qualified law enforcement instructors for the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff's Basic Training Academy at University Park. This work assignment requires face-to-face, hands-on instruction with no possibility of remote work. The Sheriff's Academy hosts up to three, 19-week residency training programs yearly. All instructors are adjunct, part-time and schedule training assignments as needed.

Requirements

• Must be certified through PCCD (Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency).
• Must be certified by the Sheriff & Deputy Sheriff Training and Education Board.
• Must possess a valid US driver's license.
• Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
• Successful completion of standard background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face, hands-on instruction in law enforcement training modules.
• Teach specialized subjects including Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Tactical Combat Casualty Care/Emergency First Aid, Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC), Physical Conditioning, Officer Safety, Crisis Intervention, and Pennsylvania Criminal and Civil law.
• Produce certification certificates for specialized subjects.
• Schedule training assignments as needed.
