About The Position

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Part Time Security Specialist. The Part Time Security Specialist is responsible conducting security assessments of all NASCAR sanctioned facilities against NASCAR's Minimum Security Standards. Assist the Senior Director and Director in managing the Corporate Security Program by studying physical security conditions, observation of activities, and by conferring with management regarding internal operations. Is responsible to act as a liaison with federal, state, municipal law enforcement and public safety agencies. Conduct investigations as necessary and provide written report of findings. Assist Senior Director and Senior Managers in providing executive protection as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be current or retired member of law enforcement.
  • Annual Corporate medical certification, current firearms certification and annual training, and NASCAR License.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to assess situations related to executive protection and make the appropriate judgement call in the moment.
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of NASCAR sanctioned racing facilities in comparison to NASCAR's Minimum Security Standards, industry standards and against all federal and state laws.
  • Responsible for protecting all corporate informational assets wherever they are located.
  • Assist the Senior Director in the development and implementation of security programs to enhance the levels of physical security procedures and policies.
  • Assist the Senior Director in compiling and analyzing local and international security data and intelligence reports and recommend appropriate action.
  • Prepare written reports.
  • Assist the Senior Director in interpreting common security, technical and scientific information.
  • Maintain professional contacts with vendors, technical representatives and comparable organizations, as to be constantly knowledgeable about the latest security applications and issues.
  • Coordinate closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies, public safety entities, and security officials in related agencies to ensure good local community relations on security issues.
  • Assist the Senior Director and Senior Managers in planning, evaluating and performing executive protection as required.
  • Attend training and technical institutes/programs for security planning and evaluation, sharing the information obtained with the Security Department.
  • Prepare and disseminate security information to departments and offices and sanctioned facilities.
  • Represent the company as required on public safety matters.
  • Perform executive protection duties as required during NASCAR-sanctioned events, logistical support and related special projects for family members, NASCAR executives and guests.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of protective equipment, and weapons.
  • Meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed security work and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
  • Must qualify under federal HR 218 (Law Enforcement Safety Act).
  • Work in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, the use of protective gear and devices, and awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
  • Utilize rapid and effective judgement in responding to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level and physical response as the situation may warrant, which could require employee to run quickly and for long distances, shield and protect VIPs, and take other physical preventive and/or reactive measures.
  • Approximate travel 50%, including weekends.
  • Track responsibilities/duties: Meetings - Safety/Communications; Production; Photographer; Put it Out; Driver/Crew Chief Qualifying (pit road and pole) Pre-race Monitor Garage Credentials Garage and Pit Road during the event Assist Gate Personnel w/Credentials Contact track security, local, Federal and State law enforcement to make sure there is no threat or reason we cannot proceed with the event. Monitor Driver/Owner lot. Assist track security with any security issues involving NASCAR personnel/participants
