About The Position

The Maintenance and Custodial Employee is a seasonal, part-time, hourly position responsible for the overall care, upkeep, and cleanliness of the parish facilities, equipment, and grounds, both indoors and outdoors. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for parishioners, visitors, and staff. This role includes daily cleaning duties, general maintenance, event support, and special projects. The employee reports directly to the Facilities Director and Director of Operations and works collaboratively with other staff to ensure that parish buildings and grounds are well-maintained and operational at all times.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the interior and exterior of parish buildings, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing windows and walls, sanitizing restrooms, sweeping cobwebs, and emptying trash containers
• Complete periodic deep cleaning projects such as burnishing, stripping, and waxing floors, and carpet cleaning as needed
• Handle maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist with room setup and take down for daily use, meetings, and special events such as funerals, special liturgical services, and large parish activities
• Support seasonal grounds care, including snow and ice removal, spreading salt, and landscaping maintenance
• Conduct routine inspections and assist with basic maintenance or minor repairs
• Assist with special projects such as painting, furniture assembly, moving, and light construction
• Respond to maintenance-related emergencies promptly and effectively
• Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in good order and ensure safety procedures are followed
