About The Position

Texas Joint Institute is seeking a dedicated Medical Office Specialist to provide clerical expertise and ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. The role involves working at the reception desk, answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, checking in patients, verifying insurance, and maintaining medical records. The ideal candidate will be part of a supportive team that values patient care.

Requirements

  • Less than one year of experience is required; one to three years of experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
  • Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to organize and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.

Responsibilities

  • Work at the reception desk, answer phones, greet and communicate with patients and providers.
  • Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Check in patients and properly document registration.
  • Verify insurance and patient demographics.
  • File and retrieve medical records/files.
  • Perform copying and faxing duties.
  • Collect co-pays and cash from patients, getting authorization on credit cards.
  • Enter charges, payments, and balance the day in the computer.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Coordinate continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities.
  • Participate in data collection, health outcomes reporting, audits, and programmatic evaluation.
