The Mast General Store Original in Valle Crucis, NC is now hiring Part-time Sales Associates for the shoes department. Some of the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Sales Associate include but are not limited to the following: Guest Services Greets the guest when entering the store and/or the department. Determines the guest’s needs and provides appropriate solutions, such as offering a basket, offering to hold merchandise at the register, opening a dressing room, offering to transfer from another store location, etc. Establishes a rapport with the guest. Emphasizes the selling points (features/benefits) of merchandise and suggests other options if appropriate. Reaffirms the guest’s selection. Suggests related merchandise for the guest’s consideration. Gives directions to other Mast Stores and is able to provide information on local restaurants, accommodations and attractions. Thanks the guest for visiting with us. Tasks of the Job Arrives to work on time, as scheduled, and begins work immediately upon clocking in. Assists in unloading the delivery truck as assigned. Familiarizes him- or herself with weekly ads and promotions. Practices loss prevention techniques, staying out of the register pit unless conducting a transaction, and properly moving about the sales floor. Performs expected tasks while being fully aware of all activity in the department. Demonstrates initiative and looks for other/additional projects. Looks for ways to improve the guests’ experience.
Requirements
- Applicants must be outgoing, energetic and have good communication skills with the ability to initiate conversations with our guests.
- Open availability on Saturday and Sunday required and at least two week days of availability required.

- Previous retail experience preferred.
