About The Position

The RISE Community Liaison position at North Shore Community College is a part-time role focused on supporting a diverse student body, particularly those from Black, African American, African, Latina/o/é, and/or 2SLGTBQI+ backgrounds. The role involves welcoming students, helping them navigate college resources, and promoting engagement through various programming and social media efforts. Community Liaisons will work collaboratively with different campus offices to enhance student success and community offerings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be currently enrolled at North Shore Community College in good academic and conduct standing.
  • Must have completed at least one semester at NSCC.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to explain concepts to others clearly.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic computer operations.
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with North Shore resources available to students.
  • Experience working with college students and/or the communities we serve.
  • Experience using social media platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Experience using Navigate and/or Navigate app.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key member of the RISE team by welcoming, greeting, and meeting with active and prospective RISE students.
  • Offer RISE students opportunities to learn about key resources/functions across campus associated with academic and personal success.
  • Maintain an understanding of NSCC resources and offices on campus.
  • Build a social media presence for RISE and promote RISE & NSCC via our social media platforms.
  • Serve as an advisor to guide the future development of RISE programming and community offerings.
  • Assist in on and off-campus event planning for RISE.
  • Assist with campus engagement events; attend engagement events as requested.
  • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect North Shore's core values while interacting with members of the NSCC community.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $16.80.
  • Part-time position with 10-15 hours per week.
