About The Position

The Assistant Manager will lead their team to fulfill Blick’s commitment to our customers, the Arts, and our local communities. Responsibilities include overseeing the overall operations of the retail location, increasing sales volume, upholding customer service values, and developing and maintaining customer and school relationships. The Assistant Manager will also manage inventory, maintain company standards, ensure compliance with policies, and supervise staff. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; College preferred but not required.
  • One year of previous retail management experience or one year of employment with Blick.
  • Demonstrated superior sales performance throughout career.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willing and able to relocate for future opportunities if required.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules including day/evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the overall operations of the retail location.
  • Increase sales volume and uphold customer service values.
  • Develop and maintain customer and school relationships.
  • Maintain proper stock levels and inventory replenishment orders.
  • Assist the Store General Manager with the House Account Program.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory management.
  • Maintain company POGs, display and signage compliance, and cleanliness standards.
  • Coordinate pre-inventory tasks and ensure compliance with Loss Prevention and Safety measures.
  • Supervise shifts, manage payroll, and create weekly schedules.
  • Interview candidates for open non-exempt associate positions.
  • Solve associate issues in partnership with management.
  • Execute training for all store associates.
  • Communicate and maintain sales goals for associates.
  • Coordinate marketing programs at the store level.
  • Manage the financial well-being of the store using budget and Profit & Loss reports.
  • Oversee ordering of store supplies and monitor expenses.
