The Swanger Lab is seeking a motivated, responsible, and well-organized Part-Time Research Assistant with interest in laboratory neuroscience research related to the function and therapeutic potential for neurotransmitter receptors in the brain. The lab is located in the Center for Neurobiology Research at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute in Roanoke, Virginia. The successful candidate will support research to determine how neurons communicate in the brain and how this communication goes awry in epilepsy. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to assist with various experimental protocols to study neural circuits in the healthy mouse brain and mouse models of epilepsy including pharmacology, physiology, molecular biology, and cellular imaging. The research assistant will also be involved in general laboratory operations and mouse colony maintenance.
