About The Position

The position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. The RN will work in both orthopedic and neuroscience departments, demonstrating competency in the assessment and treatment of patients undergoing joint replacement and those experiencing stroke or stroke-like symptoms. The role involves collaboration with healthcare providers, adherence to ethical standards, and participation in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing from a state accredited school (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
  • Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) certification (Required)
  • Georgia Stroke Core Curriculum (GSCC) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) must be obtained within 2 years of hire (Required)
  • 1 - 2 years Nursing Experience (Preferred)
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a state accredited school (Preferred)
  • Orthopedic Nurses Certification (ONC) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Collects data in a systematic and ongoing process.
  • Identifies issues and develops diagnoses based on assessment data.
  • Prioritizes data collection based on the patient's condition and needs.
  • Develops individualized care plans with strategies that address diagnoses.
  • Implements care plans in a safe and timely manner.
  • Documents implementation and any changes to the care plan.
  • Consults with healthcare providers and makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
  • Develops expected outcomes for continuity of care.
  • Evaluates the plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates competency in assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation of orthopedic and stroke patients.
  • Provides appropriate education to patients and families regarding orthopedic and stroke care.
