About The Position

The Penn State Berkey Creamery is currently seeking a part-time intern to assist in the Quality Assurance Lab. This is a hands-on position that requires active physical and mental participation, with or without accommodation. Working hours may possibly involve late evenings, early mornings and weekend hours on occasions as schedules accommodate.

Requirements

• High attention to detail
• Must be available to work weekends
• Food science experience or similar exposure to food processing at the lab, pilot plant or manufacturing plant level
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as with a diversified group of people
• Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the food industry

Responsibilities

• Assisting with testing (analytical, microbiological) and evaluating (organoleptic) and release of products
• Managing ingredient and finished product documents including specifications, recipes, nutritional labels, standard operating procedures and other documentation related to food quality and safety in support of the manufacturing of dairy products
