About The Position

The City of Anaheim Community Services Department is seeking a part-time Program Specialist for the Cultural Arts Section. This role involves assisting with various cultural arts programs, including theater rentals, gallery events, and community activities. The position requires working evenings, weekends, and some holidays, with a commitment of 15-20 hours per week during peak months and 10-15 hours during off-peak months. The Program Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the safety and satisfaction of the public while coordinating and supervising recreation programs.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience related to recreation or tree power programs.
  • Experience supervising staff and working with the public is desirable.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques and public relations principles.
  • Understanding of recreation program planning and implementation.
  • Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations related to recreation programs.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.

  • Experience in event planning and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Program Specialist in supervising theater staff in concession operations and maintaining concession inventory.
  • Assist in supervising the theater for performances and rentals.
  • Report facility maintenance concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Assist with artist receptions at the Center Gallery.
  • Support the Cultural Arts Office with citywide special events and the management of the Poet Laureate.
  • Assist in implementing the Public Art Plan and managing summer series events at Pearson Park Amphitheatre.
  • Process registrations and manage bookings in the Department's program registration system.
  • Maintain accurate records of all bookings, transactions, and communications.
  • Ensure safety by inspecting and monitoring facilities and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for special events.
  • Develop and prepare marketing materials for recreation programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and maintain positive relationships with co-workers and other departments.
  • Supervise theater staff and assist in cleaning facilities.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of staff and volunteers.
  • Plan and implement recreation programs and activities.
