About The Position

North Shore Community College is seeking a Part-Time Professional Tutor for Early College courses at the Lynn campus and local high schools. The position involves tutoring high school students in subjects such as philosophy and composition, encouraging systematic study approaches, and maintaining communication with staff. The role is non-benefited and part of the MCCC unit, with up to 20 hours of work per week based on availability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience tutoring and/or teaching philosophy, composition, or related subjects.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel to assigned Lynn Public High School location(s).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrate qualities of patience and empathy; respect for students of all genders, gender identities, cultural/ethnic backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
• Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
• Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Community College tutoring or teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with High School students preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students taking Early College courses including philosophy, composition, understanding higher education, and other subjects as assigned.
• Encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their college career.
• Maintain consistent communication with tutoring personnel and Early College staff as assigned.
• Help maintain EAB Navigate records of student attendance at tutoring sessions and their learning progress.
• Attend required tutor meetings throughout the semester.
• Assist students in making appointments and logging in/out of center.
• Perform other duties consistent with the position of Professional Tutor.

Benefits
