About The Position

The City of Ames is seeking a part-time Police Officer to join its Police Department. Requirements

• Current certification by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent and deter crime.
• Enforce criminal laws, traffic laws, and city ordinances.
• Provide assistance to individuals in need, including first aid.
• Respond to calls regarding complaints, misdemeanors, and felonies.
• Conduct investigations and gather evidence.
• Apprehend suspects and effect arrests as necessary.
• Direct traffic and monitor vehicular and pedestrian movement.
• Testify in court as a witness when required.
• Engage in community policing and relationship building.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain professional competence.
