About The Position

Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking a Part Time Physics Instructor to teach Physics (PHY) credit courses on campus. The position is part-time and requires teaching on campus only. The instructor will be responsible for establishing a conducive learning environment, preparing and instructing assigned courses, evaluating student progress, and supporting student success. Requirements

• Earned Master's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution in Physics or Engineering discipline relevant to teaching assignment OR master's degree in related field with minimum 18 graduate credits in Physics or relevant Engineering discipline.
• Teaching experience required.

• Recent, successful, post-secondary teaching experience in Physics courses.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
• Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through appropriate learning experiences and materials.
• Adhere to course syllabus and submit data needed for assessment reports.
• Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, written examinations, and overall observation.
• Prepare and grade exams, assignments, and/or lab reports, returning graded assignments in a timely manner.
• Assign midterm and final grades for all students, meeting institutional deadlines.
• Actively support student success through guidance and advising.
• Participate in professional activities including lab training sessions and examination development.
• Encourage students to complete the Student Opinion Questionnaires (SOQs).
• Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
• Adhere to and support all departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
