In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for safely preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications to patients in accordance with the laws and regulations governing pharmacists and the practice of pharmacy by the NYS Board of Pharmacy and Lutheran Medical Center pharmacy's policy and procedure. Responsible for the optimization of drug therapy by identification, resolution, and prevention of drug related problems and improving therapeutic outcomes. Work independently within the limits of established pharmacy policies and procedures as a member of the inpatient care team. Directs and coordinates the activities of a pharmacy service area. Supervise all staff and support personnel assigned, operating within the limits of pharmacy policy and procedures, and the regulations of the NYS Board of Pharmacy. Assignment will include covering satellite pharmacy preparing IV products, distributing controlled substances, providing drug information. All pharmacists will be knowledgeable on the safe management and handling of hazardous medications stored and dispensed.

Requirements

  • Valid pharmacist license in New York State.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IV product preparation.
  • Familiarity with controlled substances management.
  • Knowledge of hazardous medication handling.
