About The Position

Multiple daytime positions located on the WCJC Richmond campus. The Part-Time Peer Tutor will work closely with the Learning Center Facilitator and staff to provide a positive and welcoming educational environment for students. The Peer Tutor provides student tutoring/assistance in core courses, study skills, and time management. The Peer Tutor assists in the Learning Center computer lab as well as provides other services offered in the Center.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment (or continued enrollment) at WCJC.
• Completion of a college English or Algebra course with a letter grade no lower than a B.
• Ability to relate to students and present content in various ways to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Strong technical skills, including experience with an online Learning Management System such as Brightspace and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and assistance in core courses, study skills, and time management.
