The Outdoor Adventure Programmer will plan, program, supervise, and implement a variety of outdoor adventure programs and events with a focus on fun, customer service, and park visitors/participants. This role involves leading active recreation opportunities throughout Metro Parks, including camping, backpacking, biking, canoeing, fishing, and various other outdoor activities. The programmer will develop and design programs based on visitor interests, maintain equipment, supervise participants, and work with park staff to ensure successful event implementation.

  • Possession of or currently pursuing a degree in Parks & Recreation, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Experience in outdoor programming or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with technology and office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Mathematical skills for calculations and report preparation.
  • Valid Ohio driver license and insurable by the Park District's insurance.
  • Experience in leading outdoor adventure programs.
  • Knowledge of natural resources and environmental education.
  • Familiarity with social media for program promotion.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate programming needs.
