About The Position

The Part Time Officer - Campus Police position is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors at SWOSU. This role involves enforcing laws, preventing crime, and protecting property on campus. Officers will perform foot and mobile patrols, assist individuals with disabled vehicles, provide directions to visitors, and may assist in emergency situations such as evacuations. The position requires maintaining a high degree of visibility and professionalism while serving the campus community.

Requirements

• CLEET certification is required
• Good knowledge of traffic control procedures is required
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must have a valid OK driver’s license
• Must have a GED/High school diploma
• Must not have a felony, domestic violence offense, or a crime against moral turpitude
• Good written, verbal, basic mathematical, and interpersonal skills are required

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws including federal and state statutes and SWOSU regulations
• Prevent crime and protect property on SWOSU lots, buildings, and surrounding area
• Control traffic, including issuing traffic citations for moving or parking violations
• Routinely perform foot and mobile patrol to ensure security of SWOSU lots, buildings, and property
• Assist individuals whose vehicles have become disabled
• Provide directions and assistance to campus visitors
• Assist in evacuation during fire and bomb threats and provide emergency first aid in the event of injury
• Report traffic, safety and/or security infractions to proper authorities
• Maintain a high degree of campus visibility
• Serve as required on SWOSU committees
• Notify Supervisor, Director, Safety Coordinator, or Human Resources of any potentially dangerous equipment, practices, or violations of safety procedures
• Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment
• Assist in situations as called upon
• Other duties as assigned
